Commissioner Charlie Cavell

Charlie Cavell is a Democrat who represents District 19. District 19 includes Berkley, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, and Pleasant Ridge, and portions of the cities of Birmingham and Royal Oak. At the April 8, 2026, Oakland County Commission meeting, Commissioner Cavell voted against moving public comment to the end of the meeting. He also voted no on "Project Prove-It" for Flock surveillance drones. Commissioner Cavell left the majority caucus (not the Democratic party) in 2025 after repeatedly calling for ethics and financial disclosure reforms. He continues to be an outspoken voice on these issues, despite having been removed from all his committees by Chair Woodward, thus depriving his constituents of true representation.
