Commissioner Penny Luebs

Penny Luebs is a Democrat who represents District 2. District 2 includes City of Clawson, and portions of the cities of Royal Oak and Troy. She was first elected in 2018 and is up for re-election in 2028. Her email address is luebsp@oaklandcountymi.gov

At the April 8, 2026, Oakland County Commission meeting, Commissioner Luebs voted to move public comment to the end of the meeting. Along with Chair Dave Woodward, Commissioner Luebs was a co-sponsor of "Project Prove-It" for Flock surveillance drones. More recently, Commissioner Luebs went to Motorola headquarters with Chair Woodward, failed to tell the public or other commissioners about this trip, and then voted to approve a contract with Motorola. In an interview with WXYZ's Heather Catallo, Commissioner Luebs repeatedly said that the trip to Motorola occurred after the vote, despite evidence that this is untrue.
