Commissioner Kristen Nelson

Kristen Nelson is a Democrat who represents District 10. District 10 includes the cities of Keego Harbor and Sylvan Lake, portions of Waterford and West Bloomfield townships, and portions of the City of Pontiac. At the April 8, 2026, Oakland County Commission meeting, Commissioner Nelson voted against moving public comment to the end of the meeting. She also voted against "Project Prove-It" for Flock surveillance drones. Commissioner Nelson left the majority caucus (not the Democratic party) in 2025 after repeatedly calling for ethics and financial disclosure reforms. She continues to be an outspoken voice on these issues, despite having been removed from all her committees by Chair Woodward, thus depriving her constituents of true representation.
